This website is for parents looking for a school for their child. Over 550 independent secondary schools are profiled, together with their junior schools and prep departments. It is based on the 17th edition of the well-established book - the Guide to Independent Schools - and updated exclusively for this website.

The premise - of both the book and the website - is that no school can do equally well for all children; a child will flourish in some schools and flop in others. Our school profiles include a wealth of information to help you get an inside view of what each school offers. You can search on a range of criteria, to create your own shortlist of schools that will suit your child; then link to the school websites and, crucially, visit any school you are seriously considering.

Parent resources explains common terms, structures and financial help available in independent education - streaming, SHMIS, sex education, scholarships etc. There are topical stories to be found under News and you can sign up for the Guide to Independent Schools newsletter.
